2. Tricyclic antidepressants1. NA + 5-HT reuptake inhibitors

• Imipramine, Trimipramine, Amitriptyline2. Predominantly NA reuptake inhibitors

• Reboxetine, Desipramine, Nortriptyline3. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors

• Fluoxetine, Fluvoxamine, Paroxetine, Sertraline4. Serotonin- Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors

• Duloxetine, Venlafaxine5. 5-HT2 Antagonist

• Nefazodone, Trazodone6. Atypical antidepressants

1.Mirtazapine, Bupropion

SSRIs & TCA

SNRIs

MAO-B Inhibitors

5-HT2 ANTAGONISTS

• weak inhibitors of serotonin reuptake• block postsynaptic 5-HT2A receptors• chronic use:- desensitize 5-HT1A presynaptic

autoreceptors and, thereby, increase serotonin release

Bupropion

• weak dopamine and nor-epinephrine reuptake inhibitor

• assists in decreasing the craving and attenuating the withdrawal symptoms for nicotine in tobacco users

Mirtazapine

• enhances serotonin and nor-epinephrine neurotransmission

• Block pre-synaptic alpha-2 receptors• Block 5-HT2 receptors
