Title 1 School & Program Description at RidgeviewWhat is a Title 1 School:

● To meet rigorous educational standards, schools with higher percentages of low-income students receive additional funding.

● 35%: eligible for limited-use funds● 40%: eligible for school-wide use funds● 57%: Ridgeview’s low-income status

Ridgeview is able to use funds to support all students to meet rigorous standards of excellence.

How are Funds Used in Ridgeview’s Program:

● Staffing and class size reduction● Training to improve instruction● Additional instructional opportunities like

extended day / Saturday school● Instructional items like technology tools

and classroom materials● Parent resource center, family

engagement, and family education

Ridgeview’s Title 1 Goals & RequirementsFulton County Schools Goals: Ridgeview’s Title 1 Goals in Improvement Plan:

● Improve student growth in reading ability and literacy measured three times yearly via Fast Bridge screening

● Improve mathematics outcomes as determined by Georgia Milestones 6-8 grade minimum competency results

● Decrease suspension days as behavior consequences

Middle Years Programme (IB) Curriculum Framework

● IB is rigorous, critical-thinking, globally-minded instruction that embraces the importance of this kind of teaching in all subject areas.

This year we are focusing on:

● Community as Service: logging service hours and doing cross-curricular service/action

● Focusing on rigor in assessments, activities

AVID Program & AVID Instructional Strategies

● AVID a program to support the academic middle who need specific skills and a push to achieve at higher levels. It also provides teachers researched, high-yield teaching strategies for all students.

This year we are focusing on:

● Organization school-wide: binder checks!● AVID teaching strategies for writing.

Personalized Learning Initiative

● Personalized learning is an initiative to meet students’ needs by remediating, accelerating, and providing the right classroom environment to do so.

This year we are focusing on:

● Varying teaching strategies, providing students choice in demonstrating learning, and pacing instruction flexibly.

● Implementing a classroom model once weekly.

Student Support: PBIS Program● Positive Behavior Intervention System is

our method of teaching expectations, rewarding for positive behavior, and consistently following up with negative behaviors.

This year we are focusing on:

● Our ROAR matrix of behaviors for all locations -- halls, restrooms, cafe, classes.

● Fun Fridays and Panther Party rewards.

Monitoring Students’ Progress & TestingOngoing Assessments:

● Teachers give 3-4 common assessments each unit and analyze performance data against standards

● Fast Bridge screenings● Acceleration testing a few times per year

Annual Assessments:

● End of Grade Georgia Milestones Assessments in:

○ 6-8 ELA○ 6-8 Math○ 8 Science○ 8 Social Studies

● Write Score Read/Write in 7● IOWA testing in 8

Other Supports -- Parent Resource Center

•Ridgeview Charter Middle School has a Title I Parent Resource Center. The Parent Resource Center room #236 provides parents of children attending Title I schools the opportunity to become more involved in their child's education.

•Contact: Ms. Sara Good in the Parent Resource Center to receive information on upcoming workshops and trainings, community and school based support groups, as well as educational materials to help enrich your child's academic performance.
