About Allen Academy Founded in 1886 in Madisonville, Texas, Allen Academy is the oldest non-religious private school in Texas and serves over 300 students in Pre-K through 12th grade. As an independent, co-educational day and boarding school, Allen offers an outstanding educational experience and rigorous college preparatory curriculum that integrates academic, artistic, athletic, and community service in a positive atmosphere. Character DevelopmentAllen Academy strives to provide a holistic education for our students, and to that end, our Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Rights, Responsibilities, and Outcomes (RRO) programs establish competencies and skills that foster responsible leadership and emotional health. Faculty The school’s full-time teaching faculty is made up of 46 men and women, with an average teaching experience of 16 years. In the Upper School, 63% of faculty hold advanced degrees, including three with doctoral degrees.
Other School Policies It is Allen Academy’s policy that violations of school rules that result in suspension or ex-pulsion will be reported to other colleges if that information is requested in the application process. Students are instructed to answer honestly any question regarding probations and suspensions if Allen Academy does not deem them reportable offenses.

Curriculum and Grading at Allen AcademyAn Allen Academy education is characterized by a college-preparatory curriculum, a lively exchange of ideas, and supportive teaching. Its objective is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which students are engaged in learning activities that cultivate in them the habits and techniques of learning and will enable them to be curious, creative, and independent. Allen Academy strives to teach that honesty, tolerance, compassion, and responsibility are essential to the well being of the individual, the school, and society.
2014 Advanced Placement Highlights ▶ 100% of seniors took at least one AP exam, 81% took at least two AP exams, and 50% took at least three AP exams. ▶ In 2013-14, Allen Academy offered 9 year-long Advanced Placement courses. ▶ 38 students completed 80 AP exams in May; 68% of all students scored 3 and above.
