1/4
Welcome to the inaugural edition
of the AIO-300 Connect monthly newsletter!
This newsletter is designed to connect the
AIO-300 community, as well as all our other
stakeholders, to all of the activities that are
happening in our space.
I know everyone is very busy so
we have tried to keep the newsletter both
informative and easy to read. In this edition
youll learn about just a few of the many
impressive things that have been accomplished
over the last few months. Future editions
will include additional information about the
incredible work that is happening in AIO-300,
and also interesting facts about our people and
the world around us.
While we wanted to keep the
newsletter short and to the point, we recognized
that there are times when people want to
know more. In addition to the stories and
graphics youll see in the newsletter, weve
also included several links that will take the
reader to either additional information, a more
comprehensive version of the story or both!
So if you havent already, I encourage you
to really explore the electronic version of the
newsletter.
Finally, please feel free to share our
newsletter with anyone that you think may be
interested in learning more about what we are
doing, and how they can contact us if they are
interested in getting more information. Thank
you and have a great month!

The AIT Dashboard under the
Program & Project Management zone is now in
production! The AIT EPMO team and AIO-300
PURE Sprint Team collaborated in the effort
to build a mechanism to track and monitor the
status and health of various programs, proj-
ects, and milestones under the priority initia-
tives established in the FAAs Chief Information
Officers Living Governance Map. These priority
initiatives reflect the strategic goals Customer
Focus, Innovation, Operational Excellence,
and Organizational Excellence -- of FAAs IT
Shared Services (ITSS) Transformation Plan.
The dashboard uses data collected from the
different point-of-contacts who are responsiblefor specific priority initiative and therefore, pro-
vides a high-level view for the executive CIO.
The dashboard was built using agile
development methodology and the Tableau
Version 7 business intelligence tool. Based on
the frequency of data submission, the dash-
board can be updated up to two times a day.
The AIT EPMO dashboard initially
began as a prototype concept in November
2012. Since the prototype dashboard was very
well received by the customer, the team was
requested to put the dashboard into produc-
tion with a few minor tweaks by the end of the
following month. Health is displayed based on
four key performance indicators, and then color
coded based on the results. The dashboard not
only displays status and health but also has thecapability to drill-down into programs, projects,
and milestones based on user selection.

GOALS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Infrastructure and Operations
teams provided migration support for two hosted
solutions: SAPS (Staffing and Payroll System)
and FAACTS (FAA Asset Analysis Cross Trend
System).
In addition, the team maintained
100 percent uptime for applications hosted at
the Terremark Data Center in Culpepper, VA.
These applications include CAP, CAS, GRC,
PURE and administrative tools such as Clarity,
BluePrint, and Quality Center.
The team of system administrators,
DBAs, change and configuration analysts sup-
port numerous applications, coordinate with
FAA Enterprise Services Center, and keep
130 physical and virtual servers patched and
scanned.

AIO-300 SURVEY
7/28/2019 AIO-300 Connect - First Edition
3/4
On 25 September 2012, the FAA
FLITES Program conducted the FLITES
1st Annual Agile Summit. The purpose
of holding an Annual Agile Summit for the
FLITES program was to review the previous
actions and processes put into place by the
FLITES program to implement agile software
development and the results based on a
years worth of data.
The following is a high level timeline
up to the summit. From the Annual Summit,
there were several lessons learned identified
and assigned to the FLITES Technical
Solutions Group:
1. Identify an Application Lifecycle Management
(ALM) tool set to support and increase the
productivity of the Agile Development Projects.
2. Acquire a tool set utilizing On-Demand
(SAS) and target as program standard.
3. Pilot the implementation of the ALM
(SCRUM tool set) on one to two Sprints and
(Kanban tool set) on a couple of O&M projects.
4. After a successful Pilot, implement best
practices supported by the ALM across all
projects.
After reviewing multiple ALMs, a
suite of agile tools was chosen. The FLITES
Technical Solutions Group selected and
is piloting the Atlassian Suite of software
products. The suite consists of four tool sets,
which can be found in the section below.

piloting of Atlassian Suite of tools (www.

In support of the Delphi R12
upgrade, the FAA FSM project team led
by Wayne Larson (AIO-300) and Andy Cho
(AFO) are developing a comprehensive
automated test capability to ensure complete
test coverage for FAA functionality. Test
scripts and integrated business scenarios
are being captured using Oracles Universal
Productivity Kit (UPK) by the functional
team and uploaded to HP Quality Center
by the AIO-300 Test Management Team
forming a repository that can be used for
comprehensive testing during the upcoming
system integration testing (SIT IV) cycle and
user acceptance testing (UAT) cycle.
The AIO-300 Test Management
Team will automate the test scripts using
HPs Quick Test Professional product.
The automation of test scripts will enable
the FAA to conduct full regression testing
of each Oracle release to ensure that
changes in the product have not introduced
unexpected and unknown defects into the
core functionality. Automated testing of
previous Delphi releases have proven to
be cost effective with an average return on
investment of 80 percent utilizing fewer test
resources to support full regression testing.
Given the magnitude of the Delphi R12
Upgrade, the FAA is building on this base
significantly expanding automated functional
test coverage that will not only ensure that
FAA needs are met at Go-Live but leaves a
legacy of a more robust automated testing
capability for future Delphi releases.

providing extensive details of the process along with incorporating the applicable
templates, policies, and procedures.
The Tantus security team has worked
sely with the Infrastructure team and ESC to
ccessfully implement continuous vulnerability
anagement. This is a cyclical process in which
identify, assess, and manage vulnerabilities
sociated with our systems and supporting
rastructure. Our process works to report and
oritize vulnerabilities while coordinating with the
propriate personnel to bring issues to closure via
mediation or risk acceptance. As a result of the
Security and IT teams efforts we have been able
to mitigate thousands of vulnerabilities which have
brought our line of business down to a low risk
average.
Most recently we have been tasked to work
with the Chief Information Security Officer, the Cyber
Security Management Center (CSMC), AIO man-
agement, and other third party vendors to scan and
provide Security subject matter expertise on critical
vulnerability risk issues related to financial systems.
