• Have them set 3 goals for the year• Work to get buy-in from the masses• Have a program-friendly URL• Work to take away something to ‘balance’ things• Start simple and build over time• Start with reduced standards, build over time• Start with fewer options, build over time• Let your wild students run wild• Don’t let web-work serve as punishment• If you’re going to micro-manage, just don’t go

online. Your brain will explode.

• My advice• Keep it simple• Make sure they have some sort of job

description/expectations • Have it deadline based• Have editors help with tracking via a

shared spreadsheet• Go with a holistic approach• You also use observation, self evals,

informal conferencing, formal conferencing

• “Give ‘em all A’s.”

The nasty “G” Word - Grading

• My advice• Signs and announcements are fine but

will only get you so far• Middle School• Personal Invites from me• Invites from staffers – bring a friend to

the meeting• Get names of people who would fit

from coaches and other teachers• Set some space aside online for info• Mail home flyers• House ad space in newspaper/inserts.
