ADVANCES IN CONSERVATION EFFORTS OVER 'SIXTH GREAT EXTINCTION' REPORTSEVEN WHEN THE LOWEST ESTIMATES OF EXTINCTION RATES ARE CONSIDERED, SCIENTISTS STILL BELIEVE THE WORLD IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING A "SIXTH GREAT EXTINCTION" OF ANIMAL SPECIES.

"ACCELERATED MODERN HUMAN-INDUCED SPECIES LOSSES: ENTERING THE SIXTH MASS EXTINCTION"

The most recent study showed that under what it calls the "natural" rate of extinction, two species go extinct per 10,000 species per 100 years. The 20th century fared far worse, with

the rate of extinction for species being up to 100 times higher than it would have been without the impact man has had upon the environment.

SPECIES GOING EXTINCT

Deforestation, farming, mining operations and the use of land for buildings and homes have contributed to species going extinct at speeds unprecedented in Earth's multi-billion

year history, previous reports have claimed.

"IF YOU ARE NOT A PART OF THE SOLUTION, YOU ARE A PART OF THE PROBLEM."

While it is critical efforts are taken by business and government leaders, with the support of whole nations and governments, it is something each person can be involved with and

make a difference.
