Course DirectorBEN BENJAMIN, PhD, LMT, has a doctorate in sports medicine and has been a licensed massage therapist in the states of Massachusetts and New York. He is the Founder and President of the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which was established in 1974. Shortly after the Muscular Therapy Institute opened, Dr. Benjamin augmented his practice by studying under Dr. James Cyriax, who is widely known for his pioneering work in orthopedic medicine. With a passion for helping individuals cope with and overcome pain, Dr. Benjamin has been lecturing internationally for almost 40 years, and has authored countless articles in publications such as Massage Therapy Journal, Massage and Bodywork Magazine, and Massage Today. Dr. Benjamin is also the author of several works referenced by those within his field, such as Listen to Your Pain, Are You Tense?, and Exercise Without Injury, and he is the co-author of The Ethics of Touch. He has been nationally recognized by the AMTA for his contributions to massage therapy, receiving the AMTA President’s Award in 2000 and was inducted to the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in 2010. With his years of experience as a therapist, educator, and author, Dr. Benjamin is regarded as a leading voice of authority in the muscular therapy field.
In this lab-intensive course, Dr. Ben Benjamin will show you how to quickly and effectively pinpoint the pain-producing structures with specific, effective musculoskeletal palpation skills. In this 95% hands-on course, you will learn how to palpate the 21 pain-producing cervical ligaments, and the 15 low back ligaments that cause chronic pain. You will also practice hands-on techniques designed to support treatment of the most common soft tissue injuries in the neck and low back. His very detailed myofascial and deep tissue massage techniques are first demonstrated, then practiced as techniques that address both scar tissue and chronic muscle tension. You will leave this lab-intensive course with accessible tools to eliminate pain and restore function and range of motion to your client’s neck and low back.
Apply specific myofascial and deep tissue massage techniques to the cervical and lumbar regions to:
Excellent course. Lots of hands-on lab that can be used tomorrow. I highly recommend this course.
