Get to Know Us!
AMP started off as an idea in 2017 as a way for visionary advanced manufacturing professionals to address the growing technical skills gap crisis in the industry and to communicate the truth about modern manufacturing. Two years later, AMP was formally established as a nonprofit corporation whose focus was on enhancing the image of the manufacturing industry and its career pathway opportunities to ensure that talent pipelines are better connected to educational and training resources, leading to full-time employment. Within the first year of operation, AMP’s goal is to build an industry-led board of thirteen members from manufacturing and service support industries (e.g., logistics, research & development, utilities, etc.).
MISSION: To modernize, maximize, and sustain a positive brand and image for advanced manufacturing as the key economic driver for prosperity and the preferred source of lucrative career pathway opportunities.
To Invest in Tomorrow, We Need to Understand Today.
The Challenge
The Opportunity A severe and ever-increasing talent shortage exists in Kentucky manufacturing industries which has a detrimental effect on business growth and investment in the Commonwealth. Manufacturing’s image has been misconceived as dark, dirty and dangerous, but the reality is starkly different. Additionally, new technology has shifted the industry’s in-demand skills. Together these factors have severely limited the quantity and quality of talented prospects interested in manufacturing careers, shrinking the talent pipeline.
Collaboration with new and existing partners helps prepare talent with the skills necessary to become successful in the “new” manufacturing landscape. AMP engages manufacturing & service support industries, education/training/staffing groups, and the military to provide training and educational attainment opportunities, leading to full- time employment in the manufacturing industry.

Here To Serve To Kentuckians
As manufacturing continues to rise across the Commonwealth, it’s vital that we have a pipeline of talent prepared to enter the industry with the skills and educational attainment necessary to perform the job in today’s modern world. Kentucky manufacturing has focused efforts on recruiting talent from the military; secondary and post-secondary education; unemployed and underemployed; physically, mentally, and economically disadvantaged; recovering addicts; and offenders.
