Photoshop vs. LightRoomPhotoshop vs. LightRoom

A pixel-based image editor Can do layers, channels,

masks and in-depth adjustments to the entire image or selected portions of it.

Ideal when you want complete control of every aspect of your image.

Downside… It can be very time consuming to do extensive edits to a large collection of images.

For exhibitions and gallery work or competitions it’s the ultimate tool. For production though it can be very cumbersome.

A capture to output workflow and image processing tool

An excellent tool for cataloging, sorting, filing and organizing images

Can do overall edits to an image or images to adjust, tone, color, contrast, white balance, hue, vibrance, clarity, saturation, B&W/tone, sharpness and format conversions.

Will create slideshows, multiple print layouts, and dynamic web galleries and pages.

Conclusion:

Both applications have a place and purpose. One does not replace the other. They work beautifully together and have been designed to do just that.

Depending on what your needs are you can get by with either one but the best solution for someone who needs to have both total image control and an efficient production tool is to have both.
