As geographers we can use ICT to overlay sets
of information to observe a variety of
geographical patterns at the same time. This
is used in GIS.
Other than relief as a factor influencing rurality, what other criteria could you suggest to determine the extent to which an area can be deemed ‘rural’?
What ‘layers’ would you use in GIS?
Have our rural areas changed and become less excluded?
Rail networks?
Broadband coverage?
Mobile phone coverage?
