When a subject of a sentence does an action.Or
When a work is done by the subject of a sentence.
OrWhen a subject shows an action towards an object.

PASSIVE VOICE
Definition
when the subject of the sentence is acted on by the
verb. A voice that indicates that the subject is the patient of the action denoted by the verb.

The criminal was arrested by the police.
