Dear Residents:
On behalf of my colleagues on City
Council, I am pleased to present you
with the spring and summer 2009
Active Mississauga program guide.
This guide is a strong reflection ofthe Citys commitment to active
living and encouraging healthy
lifestyles. It showcases a wide
variety of recreational programs and services available to all
ages across the City.
Our Recreation & Parks Division is continually developing
creative programs that follow leading health and active living
trends. This commitment to quality programming is aligned
with the Citys motto of Leading Today for Tomorrow.
We are not only investing in quality programming, we are
investing in our facilities and infrastructure. Over the last five
years, we have redeveloped and renovated four communitycentres, three arenas, and three library branches. Looking
ahead, we are committed to ensuring our recreational
facilities remain vibrant, active and key gathering places in
our neighbourhoods.
I would also encourage residents to get out and enjoy our
numerous parks, gardens and trails located across the City.
This year I am proud to say, the City of Mississauga was
awarded with the prestigious honour of being selected the
national winner in the Communities in Bloom program
in the large city category. Mississauga was ranked against
like sized cities across the country and scored the highest
rank overall in eight categories: Tidiness, Environmental
Awareness, Community Involvement, Heritage Conservation,
Urban Forest Management, Landscaped Areas, Floral Displays,
and Turf and Ground Covers.
As always, we are committed to providing residents with a
high quality of life and outstanding services. I encourage you
to take part in the programs and events that the City has to
offer and to enjoy what we have worked so hard to achieve.
Sincerely,
Hazel McCallion, C.M.

Each facility is listed with a map code and facility number followed by the grid reference and address. The maps on pages 4 and
5 have been divided into two sections (East and West) and there is a numbered dot on the maps for each facility. To find the exact
location of your facility, use the grid reference to narrow down the search area and locate the facility by its dot number.
EXAMPLE: To find the location of Clarkson Arena, the map code listed on this page under Arenas is 63 and the grid reference is B9.First turn to the maps (page 4 and 5) then find the grid reference B9 square and locate facility dot number 63 for the exact location.
