A Message from Dr Margaret Garde
To each of my valued patients,
Due to a number of other commitments both personal and professional, I have decided to retire from regular con-
sulting at Active Health.
For some time patients have indicated it is increasingly difficult to book in initial, ongoing or follow up appoint-
ments with me. It is not fair or sustainable for patients to feel this way. As a result I am encouraging all patients
who have been seeing me, to transfer their clinical care to another doctor whom they trust and will be intimately
involved in their on going care.
We have an amazing team at Active Health and our doctors are all wonderful clinicians.
I have always believed strongly in the continuation of care and patient choice.
It is also important that patients have reasonable access to a GP of their choice, where possible.
Whilst I will still be available in the practice in my role as clinical director, my working with medical students and
to cover for each of the doctors who take leave, this makes my availability much reduced.
My commitment to medical education remains unchanged as such bookings with the medical students will still be
available but only for urgent and book on the day concerns. Patients will then be referred back to their usual GP
for follow up care.
In the interest of good continuity of care, it is vital that your GP be a more regular doctor who is familiar with your
patient history.
I will still consult for educational and leave cover purposes but will not be booking regular appointments in ad-
vance.
As far as possible no changes will be made to existing appointments for 2018, I will however no longer be making
new appointments after the end of 2018.
Please see attached our list of available GPs and feel free to choose 1 or 2 GPs whom you would like to see for
your usual GP and ongoing care. Please leave a message if you would like to discuss this further and I will endeav-
our to get back to you.
Thank you for your support
Yours sincerely
Dr Margaret Garde MBBS FRACGP FACRRM

Do you need a script? It is the policy at Active Health Portland that you see a GP
when you require a script. It is the duty of care of your GP to ensure their patients are keeping in good health this is
why we have this policy in place. When you come in to
get a script the GP can ensure that you are having no
adverse side effects and that the medication is helping
you in the way it should.
Please ensure you check on your medication and scripts
regularly so that you can make a time to organise a
script well ahead of time. This will help to ensure you
can see your regular GP for the script that is required.
Appointment Lengths at Active Health When you see a GP at Active Health Portland it is important that your appointment is long enough to
deal with the issues at hand. This will avoid the GP having to rush through each consult and also allow
patients to have as short a wait time as possible. The standard appointment times are listed below:
If you feel that these appointment times do not suit any issue you may need to see your GP about
please let your GP or reception know so that a suitable appointment can be organised.
Active Health Portland - Consultation Times

make this appointment for you.

Ingredients
Method
Quinoa
57 g (1/3 cup) quinoa (white) 1/2 tbsp olive oil 188 ml (3/4 cup) low fat chicken stock/vegetable stock
Curry Quinoa Fritters
100 g carrot 1 tbsp fresh chives (1/4 cup) green Spring onions (green tips only) 1 tbsp fresh cilantro 1/4 tsp mild curry powder 1/2 tsp paprika 3 large egg (1/4 cup) gluten free all-purpose flour Season with salt & pepper
Low Fat Aioli
(1/4 cup) mayonnaise 1/2 tsp garlic infused oil Season with black pepper 1 tsp lemon juice*
1.Rinse the quinoa under running water using a fine mesh sieve for 40 seconds (this will help re-move the bitter taste). Place the quinoa in a me-dium saucepan with the olive oil, and toast for 1 minute over medium high heat. Then add the chicken/vegetable stock. Bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to medium low and allow to sim-mer until cooked (about 12 to 15 minutes). Re-move from heat once the quinoa is soft (it’s okay if it is still a little bit wet). 2.While the quinoa cooks, peel and grate the car-rot. Finely chop the chives, fresh cilantro, and spring onion (green tips only). 3.Whisk the eggs and gluten free all- purpose flour in a large bowl until relatively smooth (a few flour lumps are okay). Then add the curry pow-der, paprika, carrot, chives, fresh cilantro, and spring onions(green tips only). Mix well. Then mix through the cooked quinoa. Season generously with a few grinds of salt and pepper. 4.Heat a large frypan over medium heat. Wait until the frypan is hot and then measure out ¼ cup scoops of mixture. Fry for about 3 to 4 min-utes per side (flip once the side is golden). Cook the fritters in batches. 5.While the fritters cook make the aioli. Mix the mayonnaise, garlic infused oil, and lemon juice together in a small bowl. Season with black pep-per. Taste and adjust flavours as desired. 6.Serve the cooked curry quinoa fritters with the low fat aioli on the side. These make a great low
