System Startup

Be sure all external (non server) devices are turned on

Concentrators, Tape Drives, Hubs, etc.

Turn the Server On/Off switch to ON System displays messages during the startup procedure (this may take several minutes)

System console displays:console login: OR login:

System Shutdown

Be sure all users are logged offAt login: type rootAt password: type (your password) At #: type who (a list of users logged on displays. The only user should be root.)At # : type syncAt # : type syncAt # : type sync

System Shutdown

At #: type shutdown^-g0^-y (shutdown (space) minus g 0 (space) minus y)

The system displays shutdown proceeding, please wait…. messageScreen displays safe to power off message or press any key to reboot messageTurn the power switch to Off or press any key to reboot

Setup and Configuration of Users

Create user login IDAssign user login passwordDelete user loginModify user nameModify user login password

Create User Login ID

At System Prompt enter USER

Select 1 – Add a New User Login

Enter user ID, and full name

Press Enter

Assign User Name

Screen confirms new user created

Press Enter to return to menu

Confirm User Name and Password

At System Prompt enter USER

Select 2 – Enter User ID to be deleted

Delete User Login

At System Prompt enter USER

Select 3 – Enter User ID and new name

Modify Login Name

At System Prompt line enter USER

Select 4 – Enter password then change it

Modify Login Password

Setting Up Printers

Faspac supports printers from:OkiData Texas InstrumentsGenicom Printek

Forms supported by Faspac includePurchase OrdersInvoicesAccounts Payable ChecksPick ListsQuotationsCounter Sales Invoice

Setup and Configuration of Printers

Two types of printer controlImmediate – printer is dedicatedSpooled – printer works of a queue

Setting printer default valuesSystem-wide printersBy LoginBy Terminal

At System Prompt enter UTIL/PTR/PSET

Select 5, System printer assignments

Setup System-Wide Printers

Assign a Printer ID to each selection

Note: Same printer used for all system reports

Select 1 – Printer assignments by login

Assign Printers To Login

Enter user’s login name johndoe

Assign Printers To Login

Screen displays printers currently assigned

Enter printer ID for each printer

Assign Printers To Login

Continue for second and third screens

Enter printer ID for each printer

Assign Printers To Login

Enter UTIL/PTR/PSET, Select 2

Enter Terminal ID i.e. ttyp9

Assign Printers To Terminal

Assign printers for first screen

Perform OS and Data Backups

List backup options - UTIL/BKUP/LISTAllows you to customize backups

Select day and time for weekly backupSelect tape drive for daily backupCustomize list of files to be backed upSelect printer to receive backup log

Display daily custom backup filesDisplay weekly custom backup filesPrint long or short backup logSet weekly backup day

At System Prompt enter UTIL/BKUP/LIST

Enter 14 to Change Weekly Backup Date

List Backup Options

Enter y to request to change backup day

Enter day of week 5, confirm selection y

Set Weekly Backup Day

Load tape and enter UTIL/BKUP/BACK

Press Enter, answer y to Continue(y/n)?

Perform Daily Backup

Load STAND tape, enter UTIL/BKUP/OSBK

Press Enter, first of two OS tapes is created

Perform OS Backup

Load second tape to copy ROOT directory

Press Enter to complete OS backup

Perform OS Backup

System Maintenance Tasks

Primary System Maintenance TasksCKK - Disk reorganizeTERM - Displays all active terminalsATRM - Disables inactive terminalsKILL - Kills operator specified active terminalWHO - Displays who is logged on

At System Prompt enter UTIL/SYST/CKK

Disc Reorganization

NOTE: All users MUST be logged off!

At System Prompt enter UTIL/SYST/WHO

List of active users is displayed

Display Who Is Logged On

At System Prompt enter UTIL/SYST/TERM

List of active terminals is displayed

Display Active Terminals

At System Prompt enter UTIL/SYST/ATRM

Inactive sessions are terminated

Disconnect Inactive Terminals

At System Prompt enter UTIL/SYST/KILL

Select terminal to deactivate ttyp2

Kill an Active Terminals

Shortcuts To Remember

CCO - Change CompaniesPRT or [F3] – Change Printer AssignmentsPRT or {F3] – ‘Print’ report to a file SHOW - Show report on screen

(if ‘printed’ to a file)

Find information in reportContinue finding information

PRNT – Print to printer from a file

At System Prompt enter CCO

Enter company number and date

Change Companies

At System Prompt press F3 or enter PRT

Change Other Printer to report ID ISARPT

Assign Printer to File

At System Prompt line enter SHOW

Enter name of file to display ISARPT

View Reports On-Screen

The left side of the report is displayed

Note legend at bottom, press R

View Reports On-Screen

The right side of the report is displayed

View Reports On-Screen

At the System Prompt enter PRNT

Enter file name ISARPT and printer lp48

Print From a File
