Transcript of Abstract & Detail Photography

Abstracts & Details Photographya method of creating an image using colors and pattern with the absence of its true meaning and clear subject

Things to think about:• subject• lighting and shadows• perspective or point-of-view• focus• shapes and patterns• colors• cropping• compositional tools• if you can’t get close enough with the camera… you can crop in Photoshop later

Objective:• look at objects in detail by eliminating backgrounds and focusing on the essence of a subject• study and analyze composition, lighting, focus, shapes and patterns to create exciting and unusual images• break down your subjects capturing only the details and end with images that no longer represent the original form

SKETCHBOOK:Compile a list of objects and subjects you could

photograph abstractly or in detail. You should list a MINIMUM of 50 subjects in your sketchbook.

10 minimum for each of the following themes: 1. Nature2. Industry3. Food4. Shadows (what casts the shadow, and surface it is cast on)

5. Your Choice

IMAGES & EDITING:

Shoot a series of new pictures (40 minimum) that focus on shapes, lines, colors and composition. Your images should be detailed shots that end in an image that no longer looks like it’s original form.

Compile and edit 5 images and put them in Mrs. Duckworth’s drop box. See next slide for criteria.

IMAGES & EDITING:The 5 images you submit should be:• One object from nature• One industrial object• One food item• One shadows cast on a surface• One your choice
