Where we are

• Mexico assumes its responsibility as a global player. Our Mid-century Climate Change Strategy will guide our actions as a nation for the next 40 years.

• The aim to ensure their right to access clean energy, good health, and safe environments.

• One of the main goals is for people to reach their full potential without impacting the planet.

• We have launched consultation processes for both our National Climate Change Strategy and the Energy Transition Strategy.

Key facts on SLCPs in Mexico

• In 2013, total BC emissions were estimated in 125.1 Gg.• Transportation was the main

source of emissions, with 37.8%, followed by the industrial sector, with 28.3%.• Residential sector with 15.2%, the

latter mainly due to household’s wood use. • Agriculture and Electricity

generation contributed 7.1% and 6.8%, respectively. • The remaining sectors, oil and gas,

LULUCF, and waste sum up the remaining 4.8%.

Main achievements and lessons learnt

• Improvement the methodologies to estimate and measure the black carbon emissions and other pollutants.

• Systematize the national emission system.
