A-Z WORDS IN ISLAM!

It is a peninsula in Arabia. That was where Islam was found.

ARABIAN PENINSULA

• An outside market where people also have sales.

BAZAAR

• The battles between the Jews, Muslims, and the Christians to get Jerusalem.

CRUSADES

• The Dome of the Rock is where the miracle of Muslims called the “Isra and Miraj” ( The Night Journey) was

made.

DOME OF THE ROCK

• Is a Muslim festival that Muslims celebrate every year.

EID MUBARAK

Fasting is when you don’t eat from 5a.m. to 6p.m.. When you break your fasting whatever you ask God it will come

true.

FASTING

Is the ruler oh the whole world and everything on the earth.

GOD ALLAH

• Is a Muslim pilgrimage Mecca. It is one of the five pillars of Islam.

HAJJ

• A monotheistic religion which was founded by Muhammad the prophet of “Allah”

ISLAM

• The word “Jannah” in Islam means Paradise for Muslims.

JANNAH

• Is a Sacred House in a cuboid shape which is located in Saudi Arabia, Mecca.

KA’BA

• A small town in Palestine. Where it said that Jesus would find ad-Dajjala 'l-Masih and kill him.

LOD

• A man who calls Muslims for prayer. From the top of a Mosque.

MUEZZIN

• A person that moves from place to place. Nomads don’t usually stay in one place for a long time. Muhammad was

a nomad for most of his life.

NOMAD

• Islam is a monotheism. The Muslims believe in one God. They call their God, Allah, which means God in Arabic.

ONE GOD

• The Second Pillar of Islam. Muslims pray five times a day. They do it at specific times. Muslims always face towards

the Ka’ba when praying.

PRAYER

• One of the two foundations of Islam. The holy book of Islam. It was memorized by Muhammad. Then it was

written by his followers after he died.

QUR’AN

• Ramadan is the ninth month on the Muslim calendar. It is the month when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

Fasting is the Fourth Pillar of Islam. This religious month has a lot of prayer and reciting the Qur’an. There is a big

feast at the end of the month.

RAMADAN

• One of the two foundations of Islam. The Sunna is the teachings of Muhammad. It is also the example he set

for the Muslims.

SUNNA

• Tripoli is a city in modern day Libya. It used to be a Greek colony, then it became Roman. It then became a

Muslim territory between 642 and 643.

TRIPOLI

• Umar was an early caliph. In 634 he began expanding Islam. Caliph Umar died in 644.

UMAR

• Vegetables are a big part of Muslim cuisine. Many vegetables in there cuisine originated from India, such as

the eggplant (which was hated at first) and spinach. Chickpeas are very common, it is used to make hummus

and falafel.

VEGETABLES

• Muslims worship in a mosque. On Fridays they have a special prayer at mid-day. They always pray toward the

Ka’bah.

WORSHIP

• Also known as woodcut. It is a printing block. It is used to make and form perfect Arabic symbols.

XYLOGRAPHY

• Modern day Medina. Muhammad went there and converted them to Islam. Muhammad renamed the city

Medina, meaning “City of the Prophet”.

YATHRIB

• The Third Pillar of Islam. This is a form of charity. It is when the wealthy give to the poor and the needy. The

English translation means “ that which purifies” or “purification”.
