A large river of ice which moves very slowly downhill. They form where the accumulation of snow is more

than the ablation or melting. An example is the

Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland.

processes: erosion, transportation and deposition

landforms: from arêtes to the zone of ablation

case studies: what examples can you remember?

This glacier is located in the Karakorum

mountains of Pakistan. At 62 kilometres long, it is one of the longest

outside of the polar regions.
