Chores• Tesfanish helps her aunt to

clean the room where they live.

• Sometimes her aunt leaves early for work. Tesfanish makes breakfast and lunch for herself and her cousin.

Mealtime• Tesfanish eats kinshe

for breakfast. Kinshe is is like porridge. It is served with fried onion and hot peppers.

• Tesfanish eats Injera, an Ethiopian bread that looks like a pancake, and shiro, a chickpea sauce with spices, for lunch and supper.

Free TimeIn her free time, Tesfanish plays games like:

• senyo masenyo (like hopscotch)and

• tata (like jacks)

School• In Ethiopia,

school is only half a day.

• Students wear uniforms like this one

Dreams• Tesfanish works

hard in school.

• She wants to be a doctor when she gets older so that she can help people.

Dasash Mulu works hard to pay for Tesfanish to go to school. She wants Tesfanish to achieve her dream.

Dasash Mulu says she only has one wish:

“I want to see Tesfanish live and go to school.”
