Hymn of Praise
“No, Not One!”
1
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus —
No, not one! no, not one!
None else could heal all our soul’s diseases
No, not one! no, not one!
Refrain: Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus
No, not one! no, not one!
2
No friend like him is so high and holy —
No, not one! no, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly
No, not one! no, not one!
Refrain: Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus
No, not one! no, not one!
3
There’s not an hour that He is not near us,
No, not one! no, not one!
No night so dark but His love can cheer us,
No, not one! no, not one!
Refrain: Jesus knows all about our struggles,
He will guide till the day is done;
There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus
No, not one! no, not one!

Rev. Sheila Claiborne
R ev. Sheila Claiborne is an emerging prophetic preacher in the
Kingdom of God for person seeking Jesus Christ. Being rooted in
the AME Zion Church since childhood, she came to know Jesus as her
personal Lord and Savior at an early age. She is a woman chosen and
called by God to preach her trial sermon on April 30, 2003 under the
leadership of Rev. Dr. Michael O. Thomas at Payne Memorial AME
Church. Sheila was ordained a itinerate deacon in 2006 in the African
Methodist Episcopal Church. She now sits under the dynamic teaching of
Rev. Merrill R. Griffin at Soul Harvest Church & Ministries where she
serves as Minister to Women.
Sheila helped birth several ministries such as Restoration Ministry and
Set Free Prison Ministry. Her main devotion is to minister to those
who are caught up in addictions, incarcerated offenders, ex-offenders,
and their family. Under her leadership Set Free Ministry has birth a
transportation service for family member of individuals who are
incarcerated at MCI-J and MCI-W at no cost to the families. Sheila also
participates in Kairos Prison Ministry in which she served as chaplain
on a four day retreat at the Women’s Prison in Jessup in 2008. She
also works in partnership with Toys for Tots Baltimore and Angel Tree
serving the children of Baltimore during the Christmas Season. Sheila is
a woman of God who believes her favorite scriptures: “Delight yourself
in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” - Psalm 37:4
(NIV) and “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work
in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” -
Philippians 1:6 (NIV).
Sheila is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She is a graduate of Paul
Lawrence Dunbar Senior High School and Coppin State University with

she goes.
Greetings From Our Pastor
Rev. Marshall Lee Barnes
To The Wonderful Women of The Grace Memorial Baptist Church:
I want you to know how much we appreciate your service in church
ministry here at the Grace Memorial Baptist Church. You have
been such a blessing to your church family and all those with whom
you work.
It takes all of us to effectively serve and meet the needs of our
church family and others in our community. God is faithful as He
gifts and equips us to serve Him and those around us according to
His purposes and their needs.
We are grateful that God has placed you in our fellowship, and we
are blessed by your work for Him. May God continue to bless and
guide you.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Marshall Lee Barnes, Pastor

Ants and Elephant Seals
“Awake to righteousness, and do not sin;
for some do not have the knowledge of God.”
I Corinthians 15:34
E lephant seals spend most of their lives sleeping. Science News
magazine reports, “Male elephant seals measure 16 feet from trunk-
like nose to flipper, and they weigh about 3 tons. Occasionally, a seal
will use a front flipper — incredibly tiny for such a massive creature —
to scratch itself or flip sun-shielding sand on its body.” Otherwise these
huge animals are basically motionless.
The article goes on to state that because they don’t eat while on land
during the breeding season, they sleep most of the time. Besides scratch-
ing, dirt-flipping, or rolling over, these ponderous animals seldom move.
By contrast, the little ants seems tireless as it goes about its industrious
work of storing up food for the colony. The writer of Proverbs
commends the diligence of the ant, citing her active ways as a model for
people who would live wisely.
There’s a spiritual lesson here. Christians who pattern their service
after the ant get things done for the Lord. But others, like the elephant
seal, scarcely move. They seem to be barely alive spiritually, as if they
are conserving their energy for some huge effort later on. But the time
to get busy for Christ is now, even though our talents may seem insig-
nificant.
Imitate the ant, not the elephant seal. — Dave Egner
Lord Christ, we humbly ask
Of Thee the power and will
With fear and meekness every task
Of duty to fulfill. — Montgomery
“Many Christians do nothing,
but no Christian has nothing to do.”
“The Power of Prayer” Lesson: Acts 12:1-11
GOLDEN TEXT:
“Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of
the church unto God for him” (Acts 12:5).
TODAY’S AIM:
“To understand the power of God available through prayer.”
INTRODUCING THE LESSON:
We all know the importance and the power of prayer, but sometimes we fall
into a ho-hum approach to prayer. We go through the motions and say the right
words, but we may not pray with a confidence that God will answer those
prayers.
One way to encourage us to pray is to hear testimonies of answered prayer.
Take a few minutes to share some recent ways in which God answered prayer.
We can see that prayer is powerful and that God does indeed answer prayer. In
today’s lesson we will look at a testimony of the power of prayer from our study
in Acts 12.
PRACTICAL POINTS: 1. Rulers often are motivated by political power when they begin persecuting
the church (Acts 12:1-3).
2. The church should pray together like a family when one of its members is in
trouble (Acts 12:4-5).
3. Knowing that God is in control, a believer can rest in the midst of trouble
(Acts 12:6).
4. Prayer is powerful because it is directed to an omnipotent God who often
does more than we could ever ask or think (Acts 12:7-10).
5. God sends His angels to serve His people, but believers may not realize it
until later (Acts 12:11).
CONCLUDING THE LESSON:
God is all-powerful and demonstrates His power in response to prayer.
Sometimes we pray with little confidence (as some in the church in Jerusalem
apparently did - Acts 12:12-16). What will help us pray with a greater sense of
the power of God in prayer?
We can have a greater sense of the power of God in prayer by remembering
how God has powerfully answered prayer in the past. We can also remind
ourselves of several Scripture passages that assure us that God answers prayer
(John 14:14; 15:7). We can also give more thought to the fact that we are talking
directly to the omnipotent God of the universe.

Greetings From The Women’s Day Chairperson
Sis. Sylvia Mason
Greetings, My Sisters in Christ!
What can I say about what God is doing with the women of
The Grace Memorial Baptist Church. To God be the glory! I am
humble and grateful to the Lord for all He has done. I continue in
my belief that the Lord will move miraculously and mighty in the
life of the women of Grace if we remain “steadfast in the work of
the Lord.”
It was my pleasure to serve as the chairperson this season. I thank
God for this opportunity to help me bond with my sisters. It’s my
prayer that each of you will remain steadfast, not turning aside.
Be firm, strong, confident in the faith, be not shaken or agitated
with the strifes, the temptations, and the cares of life.
Finally, I want to thank each of you for your love and support
that you gave me during this season and I praise God for Pastor
Barnes who is always there to lead us.
In His service,
Sylvia Mason
