setting triangles, outer border, and binding1⁄4 [1⁄2, 3⁄4] yard magenta batik for inner border21⁄2 [4, 71⁄2] yards backing fabricCrib- [Twin-, Queen-] size quilt batting
CuttingMeasurements include 1⁄4" seam allowances. Borderstrips are exact length needed. You may want to makethem longer to allow for piecing variations. From turquoise batik, cut:! 12 61⁄2" [91⁄2", 121⁄2"] setting squares.! 4 93⁄4" [14", 181⁄4"] squares. Cut squares in half
diagonally in both directions to make 14 quarter-square side setting triangles (2 are extra).

Cut a strip of fabric the widthindicated in the chart.
Half-Square TrianglesStraighten left edge of fabricstrip. Lay Fons & Porter Half& Quarter Ruler onstraightened edge with yellowtriangle up and yellow cuttingguideline along bottom edgeof fabric at strip width.(Cutting guideline indicatesfinished size of triangle leg.)Cut along right edge of ruler.Turn ruler and align yellowcutting guideline along topedge of strip. Cut indicatednumber of triangles.
Quarter-Square TrianglesLay Fons & Porter Half &Quarter Ruler on strip withblack triangle up and blackcutting guideline alongbottom edge of fabric atstrip width. (Cuttingguideline indicates finishedsize of hypotenuse oftriangle.) Cut along bothedges of ruler. Turn rulerand align black cuttingguideline along top edge ofstrip and left edge alongprevious cut. Cut indicatednumber of triangles.
Sew Smart™ If you prefer,cut half-square triangles withan Omnigrid® 96 or 96L orEasy Angle ruler in this samemanner. Quarter-squaretriangles can be cut with anOmnigrid® 98 or 98L orCompanion Angle ruler.
