Wine a Little; Laugh a LotMost people have hot and
cold running water in their kitch-ens but in the Italian hamlet of Settecani villagers woke one morning recently and it was red wine that came out of their taps, not only in their kitchens but in their bathrooms, as well, re-
ports the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC]. It seems that a high pressure leak in the storage tower of a local winery allowed the vino to seep into the town’s water pipes. Many of the residents managed to bottle the beverage before
the leak was fixed. After all it was Lambrusco Grasparos-sa, a very tasty sparkling red wine, and it would have been a shame to let it dribble down the drain.
We want to know... by Jen Cuhel
What is something you do at least once a week ?
Karen Peters: Work. Jozlyn Hammond: Go to Aberdeen.
Dora Hein: Every Thursday night I watch six grandkids and bring them to school on Friday.Abbi Hess: Put gas in my car.
What is your full name and nickname? Alex Lee Nelson / Swoggs
Who are your parents and siblings? Jamie Nelson, Lori Nelson, Justin Nelson
When I was young, I used to imagine myself as a... profes-sional sports player
What is an accomplishment you are proud of? Participating in Math Counts and Math Olym-pics
What extra-curricular activi-ties have you been involved in? Football for 8 years. Basket-ball for 8 years. Baseball for 10 years.

years in some sort of business major.
Where do you see yourself in ten years? In ten years I see myself having a family and be-ing a very successful and hard-working person.
What is your favorite child-hood memory? When about six guys went to Thunder Road for the day and got to go to Story-book Land.
What is your favorite high school memory? Homecoming week when you can do so many activities. My most favorite one would be when we stole the out-house and tried hiding it from last years seniors.
What will you miss most after
you graduate from OHS? I will definitely miss every single one of my teachers that I have ever had class with. All of the teach-ers that I had pushed me to be the best I could be and they set me up for greatness.
What class/teacher have you enjoyed most at OHS? My teacher that I have enjoyed the most is Greg Dobitz. There are many reasons why I have en-joyed him the most, such as having him for math, football and baseball. In all of these events he has made me real-ize if you push yourself hard enough, you will reach potential you never knew you had.
Whom do you admire and
why? I admire my grandma Joyce Wiek. There are thou-sands of reasons why she is my idol. She has always been there for me whenever I have needed it. my role models Tom Brady and Julian Edelman because there drive to win has made me al-ways want to be like them and never want to lose.

What are your hobbies/inter-ests? Some of my hobbies and interests are baseball, football, basketball, spending time at the lake and computer games.
What three words best de-scribe you? Three words that describe me are genuine, ec-static, and generous.
How would you like to be re-membered as you leave OHS? I like to be remembered as a hard worker, a positive per-son and mostly a person that younger people can look up to.
What are three things you must do in your lifetime (bucket list) Go skydiving anywhere in the world. Travel somewhere not in the United States. Finally I want to go bungee jumping.

Brampton News... Marian Johnson 724-3437We heard the sad and shock-
ing news of the passing of Kandi (Strong) Hall Saturday of a mas-sive heart attack. Kandi had lived in the Brampton area during her growing up years. Sympathy is extended to her daughters, Brianna McLaen, Brittiany and Shayla Fiala, husband, Tyson Hall and son, Waylon and other members of her family. Kandi Ty-son and two year old son were making their home in Forman at the time of her death and Kandi worked at Four Seasons.
The Cogswell Gun Club is pre-paring for their annual Buffalo Supper on Sunday, February 18. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until food is gone or everyone is fed.
Marian Johnson accompanied Kathy Strutz to the rural Oakes home of Shirley and Chuck Strutz and Marcie Strutz, El Paso, TX. Kathy had prepared supper (spaghetti hot dish, warm french bread, jello salad) out to take. It was a good meal and social time winding up with cheese cake des-sert before Marian and Kathy left for home. It was a good evening with no wind and temperatures not bad.
A fishing derby was held on Kraft Slough February 3. Scott Matson, Fargo, drove down to take part. Grampa George Bish-off proclaims him an avid fisher-man and it paid off as the walleye were willing to help Scott place first, second and third with the size of his catch. A happy camper as he returned home with a lot of prizes for his catch.
Congratulations Scott. Sounds like you have enough fish for a good fish feed.
A couple of weeks before this successful fishing derby, Scott caught a monster of a fish on Lake Ashtabulla. The walleye was 31 inches long, had a girth of 19 inches and looked as if he was old enough for retirement. After a photo session and being measured the fish was returned to the lake to live out his life.
Jim and Deb Bosse were Tues-
day morning coffee guests at the Dick and Jill Johnson home. Kimm and Don Rust were Tues-day afternoon callers.
Phyllis and Harvey Dawson and Jennifer Watkins, Forman had supper at the Angry Beaver in Oakes, Saturday evening. The occasion was Jen’s birthday and Phyllis and Harvey took her out for supper to celebrate.
Betty Rust and Leo Rust both had the misfortune to catch the flu. Leo is still in a swing bed in Britton Hospital and is feelling pretty good after he has gotten over the flu. So good, he would appreciate and enjoy company. Betty is still recovering and has not been out of the house for over a week except to see her doctor. This flu is bad stuff.
Kathy and Tom Heimbuch left for Des Moines, IA, January 24, to spend time with daugh-ter Shelby Heimbuch and friend Tom Allgood. They helped them get settled in the house they had recently purchased. During the five days, they feasted at sev-eral Des Moines restaurants and met Tom’s mother and step dad. Kathy and Tom left for home and the flu hit Kathy on the way back. Took her a week to recover and feel somewhat back to normal.
Chuck Anderson, Rutland, visited Alan and Dolores Wittich Monday and gave them com-munion. They had coffee and a good visit, too.
Kathy Heimbuch spent the week of February 6 at the Chad and Monica Heimbuch home in Oakes. She was caring for grandchildren Kaia, Collins and Quinn while their parents spent a vacation time in Minneapolis. Saturday, Kathy and Tom, Josh, Kaia, Collins and Quinn had sup-per at the Cogswell cafe and on Sunday, enjoyed their buffet.
Erma and George Bishoff were coffee visitors at the Alan and Do-lores Wittich home Friday.
Jordon Heimbuch left for Hart-ford, Conn. Monday and will be attending meetings related to his job at Bobcat.
Phyllis Dawson drove to Lang-ford, SD to attend a basketball tourament. Her grandson, Cater Dawson, was a member of the Britton team. She went into Ab-erdeen to take care of some er-rands before leaving for home.
Dick and Jill Johnson drove to Lisbon to watch grandson, Coop-er Johnson, and Casselton team play Lisbon. Casselton went home as the victor.
The winter olympics held at Pyeong Chang, South Korea has been the big attraction on TV. The closing ceremony will be held February 25 and each day is full of exciting events.
I found this amusing little tid-bit in a publication recently (per-haps not everyone will think it is) When asked about finances, the reply was, “Not to brag about my finances, but my credit card com-pany calls me almost every day to tell me my balance is outstand-ing!!!”

This is good soup weather. With the cold, wind, wind chill, and snow, (have not had much YET), it is a necessity to warm the body after being out in the cold. I love my crock pot for pre-paring it. Don’t have to watch it-just let it cook away.
My most traumatic time this past week was losing my keys to the mail box and front door. I searched and searched- more than one time in each spot and, as a last resort, decided to look in the garbage. UCK!! But, I found them and I’m still trying to figure out how they got there. I do not think it was my doing. Do you suppose my apartment is haunt-ed and the ghost was having fun, and at whose expense??
Enough idle chatter. Bye now and have a good week.
