2.- Description and General Objectives.
Once initiated in Computer Aided Design during the first year, students have the
opportunity to deepen into three dimensional drawing and parametric design of
mechanical industrial objects, in order to integrate them with other computer
applications, word processors and spreadsheets, for their own projects.
3D CAD for Engineering, besides the concepts and tools acquired and developed
during the first year, will serve as a basis for the graphical representation in most areas
in Mechanical Engineering.
General Objectives are as follows:
- Deepen in the concept and work methodology of 3D Aided Design and, specifically
the one related to industrial applications.
- Get students to use a parametric design software confidently, understanding the
most important processes in three-dimensional mechanical design, and

3
automatically generating blue prints and documentation from them.
- Get accustomed to look up manuals, analyzing, applying and integrating data in all
project phases.
- Integrate drawings with other applications in order to generate technical
documentation for projects.
- Work in teams to adapt to nowadays working realities.

Assessment criteria
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA AND GRADING
Assessment tools Percentage
T1 In-class practices
Synchronous (On-site or via Florida Oberta/Microsoft Teams) 20%
T2 Deliverable tasks
Synchronous (On-site or via Florida Oberta/Microsoft Teams) 30%
T3 Projects
Synchronous (On-site or via Florida Oberta/Microsoft Teams) 50%
Assessment system
The learning assessment is carried out in a summative way through in-class assignments in
which students will show their acquired knowledge. Five grading criteria are to be
established:
Class participation and learning.
Planning, development and on-time delivery of the assignments.
Theoretical concepts addressed as competences.
Methodology in problem-solving.
Overall quality and presentation of the assignments.
Subject: 3D Computer Aided Design for Engineering
FLORIDA UNIVERSITÀRIA – Degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering.
8
The final grade will result from the assessment of the following three tools:
T1. In-class attendance (20%)
Attendance is mandatory and will be assessed as well as efficiency.
T2. Deliverable tasks (30%)
Task planning, development and resolution, as much as in time delivery will be assessed.
Tasks are to be delivered on the same day they are undertaken, any delay on the delivery
means a reduction on the marks between 10 and 50% depending on different cases. At
most, tasks may be delivered within a week from the date they were supposed to.
T3. Projects delivery (50%)
At the end of the module, individual projects developed throughout the course will be
delivered in the shape and timeframe communicated to the students. Acquired
knowledge, applied methodology as well as overall quality and presentation will be
assessed.
In order to pass the subject it is required to obtain a grade equal or above 5 points.
Should classes take place on-line due to sanitary causes derived from Covid 19, the
following changes on the subject assessment will take place during this period: On site
attendance will not be scored, thus that 20% of the assessment will be divided amongst the
other two assessment tools. Therefore, deliverable task will take 40% of the score and
Projects will be worth 60%.
9.- Specific actions proposal
Students who are unable to attend regularly to class due to justified causes, including a
case of demonstrated vulnerability to Covid 19, must get in contact with the responsible
professor before the end of the third week in order to define their assessment. This may be
adapted to the student’s circumstances and a written document will define the agreement
reached between the teacher and the student.

In the computer rooms you are to use exclusively resources from the subject and
task. Any non-necessary access to the internet shall be penalized.
Due respect to professors and classmates is a must.
The correct use of the center facilities and installations is also a must.
If classes cannot take place on-site due to sanitary causes derived from Covid 19, they are
to be carried out on-line synchronously through the Microsoft Teams application, following
the usual class schedule.
Recommendations in order to successfully follow the subject while on-line:
Students must pay attention to their e-mail, since important announcements take
place by this method. Such announcements will remain in the section
Subject: 3D Computer Aided Design for Engineering
FLORIDA UNIVERSITÀRIA – Degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering.
11
Announcements and updates from the web page of the subject, on Florida Oberta
platform.
Students must have Microsoft Teams installed in order to follow on-line classes
synchronously and make sure to properly receive all messages.
During on-line class, students may make questions using a microphone.
Subject content, as well as proposed problems and complimentary materials will be
available for downloading in Florida Oberta platform.
12. Office hours for students
Attention to students (either teaching or tutoring) may be on-site, synchronous on-line,
asynchronous or a combination of both, depending on the current sanitary situation in the
moment of the particular requirements by the student.
In order to carry out the online mode, the several tools Florida makes available for students
and teachers is to be utilized: Florida Oberta and other tools coming with Office 365 license,
such as the case of Microsoft Teams.
Office-hours appointments will be arranged previously via e-mail. In order to study the
possibility of arranging a meeting on another day or at a different time, schedule availability
should be consulted via e-mail.
In case on-site attendance is not possible, the following corporate means of communication
may be used:
- E-mail: This is the main way of communication with the faculty. Availability must
be consulted this way in order to book a meeting (whether on-line or face-to-face)
- Florida Oberta: This is where all the data regarding the subject is located, as
well as all the materials for teaching, class work delivery, carrying out on-line
exams or quizzes, etc.
- Microsoft Teams: It allows us for synchronous on-line communication, whether
between all class or for individual tutorials.
Florida University students will only be able to access and use these corporate tools by the
means of their corporate e-mail address @floridauniversitaria.es, furthermore, they must
