News from the Men’s Club.
The 2019 Men’s Pairs Championship Final was won by Herb Brenner &
Geoff Hamilton who defeated Cec Thomson & Bob Hawtree 19/16.
The Final was a game of a very high standard with all bowlers contributing to a great
spectacle for the large appreciative crowd in attendance.
The draw for the 2019 Men’s Major Singles Championship is on the board. The first
round is on Sunday 10th March. Good luck to all competitors.
The 2019 Pennant season is upon us and we wish all our members the best of bowling
during the season.
The club entered a side in the Cyril South Competition at Killara Bowling club.
Turramurra defeated Killara by 35 shots and are in with a chance of making the semi
finals on the 10th April.
It was great to see Doc Wilcox up at the club recently for a glass of red and a chat
following his recent surgery. We look forward to seeing Doc and his little mate back on
the greens soon.
Congratulations to Cec Thomson, Bob Southam and Bob Hawtree who made the Semi
Finals of the Zone 9 Senior Triples recently. They lost the semi by 2 shots [so close to a
finals berth].

Hi, Emily here!
Did you know that 10% of over 65’s FALL twice or more each year!?!? AND over 50% of over 80’s
FALL each year.
Falls are one of the leading causes of hospitalisation, relocation to aged care facilities ,and in many cases
even premature mortality, amongst the aging population.
Many falls are PREVENTABLE. One of the ways we can act to try and prevent falls is by doing some
regular STRENGTH and BALANCE exercises. Here are a few ideas that you can do in the
comfort of your own home…..
Knee lifts Side leg raises Mini squats
Why I love getting older
1. My goal for 2018 was to lose 10 pounds - only 14 to go. 2. Ate salad for dinner -
mostly croutons & tomatoes - really just one big, round crouton covered with tomato sauce - and cheese.
FINE, it was a pizza…I ate a pizza - happy now? 3. How to prepare Tofu: a. Throw it in the trash
b. Grill some meat, chicken or fish 4. I just did a week's worth of cardio after walking into a spider web.
5. I don't mean to brag, but I finished my 14-day diet food supply in 3 hours and 20 minutes.
6. A recent study has found women who carry a little extra weight live longer than men who
mention it.
7. Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through
shag carpet to change the TV channel.
8. Senility has been a smooth transition for me.
9. Remember back when we were kids and every time it was below zero outside they closed
school? Yeah, Me neither.
10. I may not be that funny or athletic or good looking or smart or talented -
forgot where I was going with this…
11. I love being 75 I learn something new every day and forget 5 others.
12. A thief broke into my house last night. He started searching for money so I woke up and
searched with him.
13. I think I'll just put an "Out of Order" sticker on my forehead and call it a day.
14. November 4, 2018 marked the end of Daylight Saving Time - hope you don't forget to set
your bathroom scale back 10 pounds on Saturday night.
15. Just remember, once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed.
Pass this along to your fellow seniors.
