SELECTION OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TEST

TEST MANUAL• Before using the test, the test user must examine and

evaluate the manual. • It provides the basic information needed to administer a test,

score, and to make use of the results.

Check list questions that should be answered by the test manual• Standardization Samplea. How many subjects were used to establish the reliability,

validity, and norms of the test?b. What are the demographic and personal characteristics of

these subjects? Are they similar to those of the group you will give the test to?

•Reliabilitya. What methods were used to estimate the reliability

of the test?b. Is the reliability high enough for your purposes?

•Validitya. Is there evidence that the test is meaningful for your

purposes?b. What specific criteria was the test validated against?

• Scoringa. Are scoring keys available?b. If the test can be scored by machine, how much

does it cost and what sort of report is offered?

•Practical Considerationsa. How long does it take to administer the test?b. Does the test require reading? If so, is it at right level

for the people you will test?c. How much training is required for the test

administrator? How can training be obtained?
