Killing of Hindu goldsmith in Srinagar isnot a mere act of terror: Brig Gupta

TT CORRESPONDENTJAMMU, JAN. 02: The

broad daylight murder of aHindu goldsmith in busyAmirakadal of Srinagarcannot be brushed asidemerely as another act ofdesperation by the Pakistanbacked terrorists but is adirect assault on the con-cept of One India OneNation, stated Brig VeteranAnil Gupta Spokespersonof Bharatiya Janata Party. In a press release issuedhere today Brig Gupta hassaid that apart from grosshuman right violation of theminorities in Kashmir thedastardly act of the terroroutfit The Resistance Front(TRF) is a challenge of theidea of India which is sym-bolised by Sarva DharmaSama Bhava, the tenet ofsecularism in India.

In India we embrace allreligions but it is a matter ofconcern and shame that theleaders of self-proclaimedsecular parties in Kashmirhave once again failed tocondemn Pakistan and itsproxy TRF whose self-styled commander Hamzahas openly threatened anyIndian National harbouringintention of settling inKashmir as 'an agent ofRSS' and would be elimi-nated.

The reason for killing theHindu goldsmith is stated tobe purchase of a shop byhim after obtaining thedomicile certificate whichis a clear misrepresentationof facts since the two arenot inter-linked. However, the larger concern of demo-graphic change highlightedby the terror outfit is samethat the Kashmiri leadershave been using to emo-tionally exploit the localsby terming all other thanthe Kashmiri Muslims as"outsiders". The killingappears to have been moti-vated by such utterancesand needs thorough investi-gation since it is an anti-national act.

The Indian nation can nolonger afford the third divi-sion on the basis of religionand succumb to the pres-sure groups in Kashmir pro-moting exclusivist-supremacist doctrine of"only my way is the right

way" and those who do notsubscribe to "my way" arenot deserving to live hereasserted Brig Gupta. Thekilling is a warning to thoseoriginal inhabitants of theValley who want to returnto their homeland but alsoto those who may be want-ing to settle here post abro-gation of 370/35A. It is adirect challenge and warn-ing to the reported efforts ofthe government to establisha Sainik Colony inKashmir.

"The terror act is an openthreat to Kashmir's totalintegration with India. IfGupkaris can shout at thetop of their voices andblame the army of a fakeencounter, though unsub-stantiated, why they arescared to name and shamethe terror group and itsmentor Pakistan? Does thedemand of restoration of370 not smack of sub-nationalism that has no rel-evance in One India con-cept" rued Brig Gupta?
