THE CORNELL FASHION COLLECTIVETWENTY-NINTH ANNUAL RUNWAY SHOW
SATURDAY, APRIL 27TH, 2013
The Cornell Fashion Collective, originally known as the Cornell Design League, was founded in 1984 by Onslo Carrington (‘88) and Laura
Russell (‘88).
This student-run organization produces an annual runway show to serve as a platform for displaying the original fashion work of Cornell students and to highlight the management skill of its members. Over the past twenty-nine years, the Cornell Fashion Collective has grown and evolved, constantly pushing forward, while remaining true to its purpose of showcasing the work of students who represent the future
of the industry.
In honor of the members who have paved the way for us, the Cornell Fashion Collective would like to present our twenty-ninth annual fashion show to demonstrate the growth and progress of student
designers over the course of their Cornell careers.

PENDLETON SCHOLARSHIP TEAMWho isn’t nostalgic for childhood adventures? This years Pendleton collection takes us on a journey back to days of hiking and archery, nights crammed into small tents by the campfire, and most of all, ou r unrelenting pride for the uniforms we adorned as Boy Scouts. Drawing inspiration from the Scout’s strong roots in nature, this year’s collection glorifies the 150-year-old Pendleton heritage with an infusion of handcrafted quirkiness and eccentricity. This is achieved through the manipulation of traditional Pendleton wools, masterly displayed and uniquely placed in knit sleeves and applique detailing. The overall mood of this collection is dictated by the interplay of the patterns and colors of Pendleton fabrics, which work seamlessly with the strong silhouettes. It is through this nontraditional lens, with a nod to classic Pendleton tradition, that we bring the modern day Boy Scout out of the woods and onto the runway. Enjoy.

Holly would like to thank her parents for supporting her in her fashion endeavors.
“PREP, PLEASE” is a modern take on the Ivy League style of the 60s and early 70s. Each look is an updated version of pieces from a typical Ivy wardrobe, such as button down shirts, golf shorts, and tuxes. The collection makes these classic styles accesible to the modern day prepster through the use of bold
fabrics and modern sihllouetes.

Arinyuna, an Australian aboriginal word meaning ‘toward that place,’ borrows of the colors, shapes, and textures encountered in the forests of Australia. Traditional wools are blended with techy fabrics in the creation of outdoor lifestyle apparel that is as functional as it is inspired. “Arinyuna” not only references a physical journey, but also the accompanying journey toward a state of vitality
to be taken in these garments.
Katelyn would like to thank David Morgan for providing the beautiful Akubra felt hats, Aigle Boots for providing the wonderful rubber boots,
and her parents for their constant, loving support.

SEMBLANCE
MATILDA CEESAY
Semblance imagines a present-day Africa, untouched by colonialism, where tropes of African dress such as weaving, twisting, and tucking are updated and refined. The pieces juxtapose neoteric technologies such as laser cutting and digital printing with perennial fabrics like denim to recreate cruxes of pre-colonial African dress.
Matilda would like to thank her family for their support, YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund and CCA for funding her collection, and Helen Tian for
constructing the headpieces.
