“POINT TO PONDER: You need to work on your attitudes to-wards money, things and people.” (p 89)
A few weeks ago I was reviewing some notes I had taken while on retreat this past January and I came upon a few these words from Matthew Kelly’s book Rediscover Jesus and then my own thoughts about what some of my own attitudes were.
The point was very directive, “You need to work” pointing to my attitudes that needed work and not my neighbors. I liked this phrase because it re-minded my of the very nature of all relationships we have as members of the Body of Christ. We need Jesus’ help, everywhere and always but we must make the commitment to do the work following in the footsteps of Je-sus as true followers if we wish to be united to God’s family in love.
As we begin the work of our Capital Campaign, “Renewed in the Light” our attitudes towards our parish community will need work because we will be asked to sacrifice in large and small ways to make this campaign a suc-cess. The work of conforming our attitudes in the image of God’s generos-ity liberate us from being closed to the possibilities of a greater future. (Continued on page 2...)

WHAT IS A CATECHIST? WHAT DOES A CATECHIST DO?
A catechist is a person of faith who leads others in understanding the teachings of Christ and the Church. The primary goal of a catechist is to model God’s love to others. As a result, the primary requisite of a cate-chist is a love for God and a love for children. A catechist develops a les-son plan and uses that plan to teach in the classroom. By creating the lesson plan the catechist ultimately designs and structures experiences for students that help them grow in their personal faith and spir-ituality. The catechist passes on to students a set of shared meanings and values that are Catholic and Christian. Here at St. Lucy’s we have a strong team of catechists and always welcome new members. If you are interested in be-coming a catechist please contact Irma Rangel at Ext. 102 or ialarconderangel@dsj.org
