Craigo, FAIA, Architect: retired from CaliforniaState Parks (CSP), where, over the decades, he served asSenior Restoration Architect, Deputy SHPO, and ActingSHPO in the Office of Historic Preservation, as well asChief, Cultural Resources Division, CSP. Steade has servedon the US/ICOMOS Board of Trustees and other historicpreservation boards, and he received a post-graduatedDiploma in Conservation Studies (1976), University ofYork, England. Steade is a former CPF Trustee.
Charles E. Chase, AIA, CPF Awards Chair
Charles brings more than thirty years of experience inarchitecture, historic preservation planning, new construc-tion and rehabilitation. His past work in architecturalpractice, governmental service and nonprofit institutionalmanagement, provides a unique perspective and know-ledge base to facilitate successful planning and projectdevelopment. He has participated and directed planning,historic resource surveys, developed design guidelines andpreservation plans serving private, public and nonprofitsectors throughout the Southeast and California. Charles’architectural design and preservation work has receivedhonors from the American Institute of Architects. He haswritten on architecture and historic preservation and has represented the United States and city governmentsin France and India.
Montgomery Anderson, AIA
A founding principal of Cody Anderson Wasney Architects,Monty directs the firm's efforts in historic building preser-vation, and in residential and commercial development.His work ranges from careful restorations of distinguishedlandmarks to strikingly contemporary new homes.
His deep interest and special expertise in historic preser-vation spans decades, and began in college, when heworked with the Historic American Building Survey andthe Arkansas Historic Preservation Program. Since then,Monty has served as Chairman of the City of Palo Alto'sHistoric Resources Board and on the Board of Directors ofthe Museum of American Heritage, and as a Trustee of theCalifornia Preservation Foundation. He is on the faculty ofthe Architectural Design Program at Stanford University.

Jennifer Devlin, AIA, LEED AP, EHDD
Jennifer Devlin is a principal at EHDD, architecture, interiors,planning and urban design firm with roots in San Franciscoand a national and international practice. Jennifer’s back-ground is similarly cross-cultural. She was raised in Brussels,Belgium, worked in Washington, DC, Florida, and Indiana,and currently lives and works in San Francisco.
Her award-winning work includes the comprehensiverestoration of the Jeannik Méquet Littlefield Concert Hall at Mills College in Oakland, the Tenderloin School in San Francisco and the San Mateo Public Library. Othersignificant projects include The National Mississippi RiverMuseum & Aquarium (Dubuque, Iowa), the new campusfor City College of San Francisco in Chinatown/North Beachand a new Visitor’s Center at Land’s End in San Francisco.

Elaine Jackson-RetondoElaine Jackson-Retondo is an architectural historian whocurrently works for the National Park Service Pacific WestRegional Office in San Francisco, California. She is theActing History Program Manager for the Region and also manages the region’s National Historic LandmarkProgram. Elaine earned her Doctorate in ArchitecturalHistory and Masters of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and her Bachelor of Architecturefrom the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Her current and past work has included concentratedefforts in Japanese American confinement during WorldWar II, the National Park Service’s Mission 66 Program,and 19th century carceral landscapes and prison design.Elaine is a native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Malcolm MargolinMalcolm Margolin is founder and publisher of Heyday Books,producer of books on California history, natural history,literature, travel, and Native American life. He also publishesand co-edits News from Native California. His books includeThe East Bay Out: A Personal Guide to the East Bay RegionalParks and The Way We Lived: California Indian Reminiscences,Stories, and Songs.
He co-founded The Inkslingers (a group of publishers,writers, and artists) and the Native California Network; andis the founder and Chairman of the Clapperstick Institute, anonprofit organization devoted to deepening the public’sunderstanding of California’s cultural and natural heritage.

The Presidio Landmark is the transformation of a 1932 historic Public HealthService Hospital into 154 apartments and related amenities. The centerpiece of a36-acre revitalized district, this historic tax-credit LEED Gold building is a modelfor sustainable historic preservation.
