The Bar Harbor Highway Division has an immediate opening for the position of Heavy

Equipment Operator. The primary responsibilities of this position are to effectively oper-

ate heavy equipment, trucks and tractor//trailer combination vehicles for assigned road

maintenance and repair projects; to load, transport and unload materials and equipment

to and from work sites; snow removal plow route assigned during winter months; to

clean and ensure proper maintenance of assigned vehicles; the ability to communicate

and maintain harmonious relations with other employees and the general public; and to

be familiar with and adhere to good safety practices.

Minimum qualifi cations include:

• Graduation from high school or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent;

• Valid Class A Maine Commercial Driver License (CDL);

• Two years’ experience in operating construction heavy equipment, street sweepers

and commercial vehicles;

• Excellent leadership skills in a multi-task work environment;

• Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds
