MSU & Extension Master Gardeners

Michigan State University offers the ExtensionMaster Gardener Program. The specific aim of thisprogram is to provide citizens with research-basedinformation and technical assistance in gardeningand horticulture through the use of qualifiedvolunteers trained by MSU.

Qualified volunteers have successfully completedthe basic training course consisting of fourteenclasses of core training.

Extension Master Gardeners (EMG) must havecompleted the core training and volunteered aminimum of 40 hours of public service to becomecertified in their first year. In order to recertifyannually, EMGs must complete 5 hours ofeducational credits and 15 additional volunteerhours of service focused around gardeningeducation. This conference qualifies foreducational credits toward Master Gardener re-certification or Advanced Master Gardenercertification.
