About the cover:  Since 1984, when Glenn Dodd organized the t aining courses for

mosquito cont ol professionals, the Florida Mosquito Cont ol Association (FMCA) has

recog ized the impor ance of providing world class t aining to those on the  ont lines

of mosquito cont ol.  For the 2016 Dodd Shor  Courses, the sy bol of the gold shield

represents the honorable and ver  serious task of going to ba le against our state’s

most nefarious pest.  For millennia, the color pur le has represented nobilit , and as

you wear the 2016 Dodd Shor  Courses shir , remember that your work is ex emely

impor ant, absolutely necessar , and cer ainly noble.  The ser ices that mosquito

cont ol ex er s provide around the state is to be commended and suppor ed.  The

FMCA will continue to suppor  the increase of knowledge, collaboration, and diligence

– all a ibutes that Glenn Dodd stood for.  These characteristics are what the Dodd

Shor  Courses are all about.  Enjoy your courses, share ideas, and by all means be proud

of the work you do each and ever  day.

In 2015 the Dodd  Shor  Course Commi ee seized an oppor nit  to 'take Dodd to the

nex  level' by offering a complete course of st dies desig ed to recog ize different levels

of t aining.  The course of st dies will be developed by the Dodd Shor  Course

Commi ee to establish a Core Cer ificate, an Advanced Cer ificate, and a Grandmaster

Cer ificate.  Each level will consist of several courses and may take several years to

complete. Upon completion of each level, a cer ificate will be presented to recog ize

successf l completion of that level and to encourage the st dent to continue to the nex

level for that course of st dy. The basis of the course of st dy cer ification is to both

encourage lear ing and to provide a focus and direction for Dodd a endees. CEUs will

still be offered as usual for individual courses taken each year. "Taking Dodd to the

nex  level" is something in which Glenn would be ver  proud to par icipate.

Stay t ned in the coming years as we take Dodd to the nex  level.
