Educational LeadersKylie Sales, Judy Minion, and Dale Lindblom were the first to complete UNBC’s new Multidisplinary Leadership program in Quesnel and each conducted research that will benefit the local school district. The projects examined the needs of local continuing/adult education students, the integration of technology in elementary school classrooms, and the methods used to teach non-fiction writing. All three grads work for School District #28.
UNBC News in Quesnel
UNBC ScholarsHealth Sciences student Lindsay Palik and Political Science student Ramey Bartells, both of Quesnel, have the chance to earn a UNBC degree tuition-free after receiving UNBC Scholars awards this past year. The awards are presented annually to the top student from each northern BC high school. As long as they maintain a B average, UNBC Scholars can have their tuition waived for an entire UNBC bachelor’s degree program.

Northern Medical ProgramThe City of Quesnel recently contributed $8,000 to the Northern Medical Programs Trust (NMPT), which assists medical students in offsetting the cost of their education. The NMPT has grown to nearly $6 million as communities throughout northern British Columbia aim to increase the number of medical professionals in rural and northern communities. Karen Trueman of Quesnel made history as part of the first group of medical students to graduate from the NMP this year, while Quesnel’s Andrea Wood started in the program in September last year.
