Edward Weston. Invented the zone system with Fred

Archer. Defined the sky in photographs

ƒ64 refers to a very small aperture.

Focused on fine detail in landscape photography.

Lifted photography to the status of fine art.

Control every tone level from dark to light.

Zones are from 0 to X.

Zone 5 is middle gray.

Eye sees 15 zones. Digital capture

range is 5 zones.

Dark sky adds overall contrast to photograph.

Increases detail in the clouds.

Includes foreground, middle ground, & background.
