About the Honours Bachelor Programme

Part of the University of Groningen Honours College (started in 2009-2010).

Doing research is an important part of the HB-FEB!

About the deepening part (2)Honours Portfolio (2EC); all kinds of team and individual activities, such as organizing field trips, Honours Forums, social activities, attending conferences.

About the broadening part

Two broadening modules (each 5 EC) offered by other Faculties.

Petrus Camper Track (10 EC): including debating, writing, Summerschool/Winterschool, Petrus Camper finale.

The HB-FEB pilot

You replace 10 broadening ECs by a ‘FEB Specialization’ of 10 ECs: You select one specific research theme (at the

start of year 2). Close cooperation with staff and other

Honours students on this theme. Examples: participating in seminars/forums,

following an extra course, writing a bachelor thesis proposal with your own supervisor.

(under construction…)

Questions you should ask yourself…

Am I willing and able to deal with the extra workload of 45 EC extra? (This is 25% extra on average! Some meetings may be scheduled in evenings and/or Saturdays!)

Am I willing to sacrifice other activities for the Honours Programme?

Am I willing to learn more about doing research?

Am I willing to take both deepening AND broadening courses?

How do I evaluate alternatives, such as a second study programme, joining an EBF board, having a job? Why would I select the Honours Programme above them?
