Anhui Shanying Paper Industry Co. Ltd.

Newsprint (from DIP) and Testliner from OCC

(old corrugated coated) recycle paper

Anhui Shanying Paper Industry Co. Ltd. is located in Maanshan/Anhui province Peoples

Republic of China. The mill is producing Newsprint paper from the Deinking process

and Testliner from OCC recycle paper. Biothane has applied for the anaerobic Biobed ®

EGSB technology which can eliminate the bulk of the COD at low operating costs.

The wastewater treatment plant consists of three stages also; pre treatment for

equalization, flocculation - solids removal in primary clarifier and cooling, anaerobic

treatment to remove the bulk of the COD and aerobic post treatment for final polishing

the anaerobic effluent to meet the effluent limits.

In the Biobed® EGSB process, the bulk of the COD load is converted into

biogas. The wastewater enters the anaerobic system through a Conditioning

tank where the optimum conditions for the anaerobic process (pH, temperature)

are created. The conditioning tank also serves as an internal mixing tank of

the raw influent and treated anaerobic effluent. The anaerobic process is

designed to remove 54% of the COD load from the wastewater. The system

started up quickly and successful (2 weeks till design flow) and positive biomass

growth of excellent quality.
