The root of pistis ("faith") is peithô ("to persuade, be persuaded") which supplies the core-meaning of faith

("divine persuasion").

Pistis

FAITH = DIVINE PERSUASIONTRUSTDIVINE

What is this Divine TRUST?Hebrews 11:1,2

1-2 The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm

foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we

can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above

the crowd.

Hebrews 11:111 Now faith is confidence in what we hope

for and assurance about what we do not see.

What is this Divine TRUST?

1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every

weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him

endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrew 12:1,2

Hebrew 4:14-1614 Inasmuch then as we have a great High Priest Who has [already]

ascended and passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession [of faith in Him].

15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and

infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.

16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that

we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just

when we need it].

FAITH RECHARGES

and brings out theFRUIT OF FAITHFULNESS

2 Peter 1:5-75 For this very reason, adding your diligence [to the divine

promises], employ every effort in exercising your faith to develop virtue (excellence, resolution, Christian energy), and in [exercising] virtue [develop] knowledge (intelligence),

6 And in [exercising] knowledge [develop] self-control, and in [exercising] self-control [develop] steadfastness (patience,

endurance), and in [exercising] steadfastness [develop] godliness (piety),

7 And in [exercising] godliness [develop] brotherly affection, and in [exercising] brotherly affection [develop] Christian love.FaithfulnessFaithfulness

How can we be faithful?

Romans 10:1717 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and

what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the

Messiah Himself).

How can we be faithful?

2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the

word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united/mix by faith in

those who heard.

Hebrew 4:2

How can we be faithful?By Knowing thatBy Knowing that

Christ is the Author and Finisher Christ is the Author and Finisher of Our Lives.of Our Lives.

How can we be faithful?

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe

that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
