Scenario #1 You recently moved and joined a relatively new local NCMA chapter who wants to grow. You’re invited to a board of directors meeting and the board asks for your input on the following:

- How to appeal to chapter membership? The chapter has recently seen an increase in new professional memberships, however the chapter base is mostly senior contracting personnel.

- How to determine chapter objectives? The board would like to know your previous chapter’s wants and needs. In addition, the board would like for you to share how your chapter moved forward with their objectives.

- Any lessons learned? If you could give one piece of advice to the board based on your previous chapter experience, what would it be?

Scenario #2Your chapter hosts an annual, one-day learning event. The format hasn’t changed in years. Attendees sit in a classroom style arrangement and listen to someone present on a topic. While it was once a very successful event, in recent years attendance has dropped, it’s become more difficult to recruit volunteers, and interest has diminished. Several chapter leaders believe the event should still be offered, because it’s a chapter “tradition.”

As a new member of the chapter leadership team:
