InBriefHull businesses boostedby banks’ £18m fundingECONOMY: SMEs in Hull have benefited frommore than £406,000 of funding from NatWestand Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

The two banks’ SME customers have receivedthe money in the first year of the Government’sFunding for Lending Scheme (FLS).

As whole, businesses in the city haveborrowed £18,125,601 through the scheme,which began in August last year.

The two banks have now allocated £4.3bn ofdiscounted FLS loans to 25,000 UK SMEs.NatWest and RBS are now looking at what elsethey could be doing to help back Britishbusinesses and further support the UK economy.

SMEs and the public have been invited to givetheir experiences and feedback by visitingwww.independentlendingreview.co.uk andcompleting a survey that will form an essentialpart of the report.

HULL Kingston Rovers islooking to improve its for-tunes both on and off thefield after unveiling threenew signings.

Businessmen AntonyLangley, Linton Brown andMalcolm Scott have joined clubchairman Neil Hudgell, vicechairman Rob Crossland, chiefexecutive Mike Smith and foot-ball director Phil Lowe on theRo b i n s ’ board, with Colin Hut-ton remaining in his role asclub president.

The appointments will helpthe club increase its commer-cial and social appeal, accord-ing to Mr Hudgell.

“Rob Crossland and I havemade no secret of our desire tobring in new ideas and expert-ise to help take the club for-w a rd , ” he said.

“The new directors havejoined us to provide financialstability and open up newcommercial and developmentoppor tunities.

“From this position of sta-bility, the club will be bestplaced to grasp all opportun-ities for success on and off thefield.”

Mr Langley joins the club asfinancial director, havingsteered the Red and Whitesthrough a detailed financialreview over the past fewm o n t h s.

His Beverley-based business,Teckno Developments, hasbeen a long-standing sponsor ofthe Robins and he said he isdelighted to be joining theb o a rd .
