+Personal Leadership Model

The JAEGER METHOD OF INVITATIONAL LEADERSHIP

CORE ASSUMPTION: Respect and cooperation does not come with title or rank, but is earned when results are achieved through the invitational and inspirational process, where learning is the driving force.

+What would I like to achieve?(Adler Question #1)

BROADLY… Gain respect, cooperation and results from others in

way that that leave them feeling inspired, included and appreciated.

MORE NARROWLY… Have a peer, superior, or subordinate notice a change

in me as leader more in line with this leadership model by May 2012. I will know this goal has been achieved if someone brings the change to my attention.

+Personal Leadership Model

+THE JAEGER METHOD

+Who would I like to communicate with?Adler Question #2 (Target Market)

STAKEHOLDERS • The Community - Representative for myself and the organization. (Alumni, students and outside community members)

• The Team - Peers, subordinates, superiors

• Family

+Point of Differentiation (USP)Adler Question # 3

Many leaders function as a boisterous force to be reckoned with. The Jaeger Method asks the leader to function on an almost invisible level, beneath the surface. Like a conductor leading an orchestra, I aim to help others reach their potential in order to achieve great results as a team.

I believe this model ATTRACTS OTHERS thatfunction highly in a collaborative, creative environment. They feel they have the supportto innovate even when there is some risk involved. Team members will feel PERSONALSATISFACTION when risk pays off and whenthey are part of a team that views mistakesas an opportunity to learn.

+Communicating the MessageAdler Question #4

1. Clearly communicate the method to superiors. Ask to be held accountable during annual reviews based on key elements of the model.

1. Offer to present the forming of a leadership model to youth or student groups (all levels).

2. Consistently demonstrate the brand and the leadership model via LinkedIn, Cover Letters, Business Cards, etc.

3. Live the model so that is clearly evident to those I interact with. (Committees, coworkers, students, family and the community) DWYSYWD.

+When applied to a real life Leadership opportunity…

- Parking “problem” - “Greening” of Daemen - Transportation - Economical

+Challenges

-No one to lead the project-$900 a month in guaranteed revenue for BCS is needed-Justifying the need (Data collection, analysis)-Projecting use-Marketing the program-Expanding the market

+Approaching the Opportunity inan Invitational Way

Send Invitation to key stakeholders:

I would like to invite you to an informal meeting with Creighton Randall, the Executive Director of Buffalo CarShare Thursday the 12th from 2pm-2:45pm in Rosary Hall.

As part of my Executive Leadership and Change M.S.project I am investigating the possibility of getting a Buffalo CarShare car housed on Daemen's Campus for Student use. If you are unfamiliar with Buffalo CarShare please visit their website for a brief overview here.

The reason I invite you to this meeting as that many of our areas could be (I think, positively) affected by this opportunity and I'd love to get your input, feedback and advice.  I bet you may have some great questions for Creighton I may have missed as well!  As we strive to be a green campus I believe car sharing is a win-win solution for the campus, our students and the environment.  Please let me know if you are willing and able to attend this meeting- I value your insight!

+Process Continued…

THE MEETING

“Sold” the idea of BCS to the stakeholders. Invited them to be on the forefront of this great change project at Daemen.

Gave a “tour” of the process- showed them a car, how reservations work

Gave time for questions, idea generation as to funding, potential challenges, marketing ideas for campus.

By the end of the meeting everyone was PRO BCS at Daemen
