Nestled within the culturally rich Mountbatten district, the 7-acre Goodman Arts Centre is a mere 15-minute drive from the city centre and 5-minute walk from the nearest Mountbatten MRT Station. Housed within the compound are the National Arts Council of Singapore, two F&B outlets, 42 arts and creatives group as well as over 31 shared facilities for rental to the arts community including a Black Box theatre, Multi-Purpose Hall, rehearsal spaces, ceramic studios, music, art studios, and meeting rooms.

Formerly the grounds of the Tun Seri Lanang Secondary School from 1962 to 1985, then LASALLE College of the Arts from 1992 to 2007 (renamed to LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts in 1993), followed by School of the Arts (SOTA) from 2007 to 2009, Goodman Arts Centre now houses the National Arts Council alongside a diverse range of tenants from the visual, literary and performing arts. Goodman Arts Centre was set up as a pilot project of the National Arts Council’s New Framework for Arts Spaces. Set within a beautiful and charming ground amongst old school buildings and lush greenery, Goodman Arts Centre provides the perfect setting for inspiration and creative work, not to mention a cool hangout for arts aficionados looking to indulge themselves aesthetically and have a nice meal at the same time.

Growing up together as brother and sister with never a day apart. Reveling in all their loves and hates; feeding off each other with acts of randomness and ironic notions. A collision of hearts and minds as Renn, the 12 year old day-dreamer, along with Aira, the 9 year old hopeless romantic meet each other here, there and sometimes in the middle of nowhere, creating a crazy but welcomed cacophony of painted stories. The exhibition runs from 23 January to 14 February 2016.

Conceptualised and directed by Genevieve Chua and Robert Zhao Renhui, Landing Space showcases site-specific artworks that blends with its surroundings.

This sculpture is based on the book Starukha Izergil (Old Woman Izergil) by the infamous Russian writer Maxim Gorky, about the young, brave and heroic boy, Danko.

Benedict Chen depicts how Singaporeans of this generation lives and express themselves in everyday domestic, commercial, social and civic life in this work.

Once a symbol of impregnability in 20th century battlefield, this concrete bunker invites viewers to rethink the meaning of its existence in today’s day and age.

Inspired by the artist’s newborn son, the work turns an everyday object into a rocket, representing imagination without limits, one of the most joyful experiences we have as children.

A homage to the tireless educational reformer and Patron Saint of all those who work in the field of education. Brother McNally was inspired by St. John Baptist’s ability to meet adversity and frailty with compassion, zeal and charity.

Yuen’s inspiration for the works stems from Biblical narratives, Asian and Western art history, Asian cultures and personal experiences. Collectively, she seeks to find closure in my deadlocked identity by acknowledging the unique position of being a Singaporean.

A four-metre high inflatable representation of a five needle pine bonsai, this work is part of Ang’s ongoing study on the means and situation of human intervention in our immediate environment though the control of nature. The work also provides a quick relief for Ang amidst his many failed attempts to grow plants.

Dwelling is an ongoing series of paintings of floor plans of structures from around the world. The pure linework devoid of textual and numerical notation is aimed at triggering imaginative memory and grounded fiction. Among categories covered are structures that once stood or are slated for demolition; unbuilt or fictional spaces, and buildings with personal or social significance.

Her surreal emotional landscape encompasses various characters in love and bittersweet pain. Between life and death, between dream and reality, Desire is at once sad, funny and deeply human.

Temple sees the invention of a mythological universe where all the quarters of the world are at odds. A sports hall, once the diplomatic meeting arena of the opposing sides, stands desolate.
