POPULATION GROWTH

Everyone knows that unchecked human population growth is potentially disruptive to the world that we exist in.

What are some problems that can occur?

Population Boom Agricultural advancement

Industrial Revolution

The Baby-boomers, for example. A baby-boomer is anyone born from post- WWII (about 1946 to around 1963). Roughly 78.3 million babies were born in the United States during the “Baby Boom”.

Plummets in population can occur as well.Perhaps the greatest drop in human population was due to the Bubonic Plague.

This pandemic, known as the “Black Plague”, swept through Europe killing its people within days.

-Roughly 200 million people died.

Problems with Population Growth

Due to the tenfold increase in the number of human beings over the past three centuries, our environmental impact is devastating.

Already we are facing substantial difficulties. Currently, we are rapidly consuming our nonrenewable resources. Coal is projected to be gone in 57 years, petroleum in 24 years, and natural gas in 31 years. This is at the world's current population numbers.

China represents a full 20% of the world's population so one in every five people on the planet is a resident of China.

Population Downfalls China’s major population increase after

WWII has cause one major population. An aging population.

How does an aging population create problems for China?

China faces serious social and economic problems associated with overpopulation in the years to come.

Overly populated regions lead to degradation of land and resources, pollution, and detrimental living conditions for the people of China.
