• ACA Board of Directors approved ACA moving forward with the creation of a self-sustaining Debt Collector Registry and National Debt Collection Dispute Resolution Program

• Executive Committee is required to report implementation progress quarterly to Board of Directors

• Executive Committee will present recommended policies and procedures, organizational structure, budget, rules and regulations to the Board for discussion and review

• Debt Collector Registry– Requires all individuals and companies

defined as a debt collector under FDCPA or state la to register as a debt collector

– Pay annual fee that is yet to be determined

– Individual would be required to take and pass exam evidencing his/her knowledge of the laws regulating collection industry

• National Debt Collection Dispute Resolution Program– Funded by the fees paid to the Debt Collector

Registry– Responsible for resolving complaints filed by

consumers against collection agencies and individual debt collectors

– Intent is for FTC, state AGs, and state regulators to forward complaints they receive

– Program would provide mediation and arbitration services

Earn Professional Development Units (PDUs)

• Earn 3.0 PDUs by attending full-day seminars

• Earn 1.5 PDUs by attending half-day seminars

• Campus ACA awards Scholar and Fellow Degrees to individuals who earn a certain number of PDUs over a six-year time period. • Scholar Degrees are awarded to individuals who earn 18 PDUs in a consecutive six-year period and Fellow Degrees are awarded to individuals who earn 18 additional PDUs after achieving a Scholar Degree (total of 36 PDUs).
